The transdisciplinary chair “One health: a new health paradigm”, attached to the University of Medical Sciences of Holguin (UCMHo), directs its work towards the approach of a single health model.
Among its purposes, the initiative seeks solutions to phenomena such as climate change and health or environmental disasters. For this reason, among the most recent activities carried out, a workshop with an intersectoral approach stands out.
UCMHo Chair takes action in favor of the environment
According to Dr. María de los Ángeles Salermo Reyes, “in commemoration of World Environment Day, last June 5, we met residents, medical students and students from the Jesús Menéndez Urban Pre-University Institute, with which we have been working very solidly for four years in the areas of vocational training and work with the new generations”.
In this sense, the academic evaluated the meeting as positive, as it allows to outline joint strategies to overcome existing environmental problems in the territory, while counteracting communicable diseases, vector-borne and digestive diseases, which is only possible only through the preparation of human resources, who at the same time become health promoters in their families and communities.
