Emilio Ballagas, in a different way in Romerías de Mayo

Ediciones La Luz, publishing house of the Hermanos Saíz Association (AHS) in Holguin disclosed the news and it came true in the space Palabras Compartidas (Shared Words) of the Romerías de Mayo, festival that has just come to an end, during which Emilio Ballagas was highly praised.

The event held at the Holguin Technological Center was dedicated to the work of Cuban poet and essayist Emilio Ballagas on the 70th anniversary of his death. Among the guests were professor, essayist and researcher Cira Romero, a member of the Cuban Academy of the Spanish Language, who gave a series of lectures entitled “Emilio Ballagas, de otro modo”, in which different facets of the life and work of this author were discussed.

The gathering Abrirse las Constelaciones, of Ediciones La Luz and the Celestino Bookstore, of the Provincial Book Center, offered during those days the latest titles published, among which stand out “Castas arenas de la noche”, by Emilio Ballagas, included in the Analekta collection and versioned in audiobook with the title “¡Mira mi voz! Poems by Emilio Ballagas in the voices of Cuban artists”.

As traditional, at Palabras Compartidas were presented titles from other publishing houses of the AHS: Aldabón, Sed de Belleza, Áncoras and Reina del Mar, as well as the winning books of the Calendario 2023 Award, published by Casa Editora Abril.

Another space was the gathering Entrada de Emergencias, where the usual poetry readings tto place, in the new venue of the Ateneo Villena Botev Bookstore.

On May 7, the founding date of Ediciones La Luz, the fourth chapter of the audiovisual series “La claridad avanzada” was be released, which produced by Wildesigners Production, under the direction of Gerardo Perdomo and Luis Yuseff came to be true.
