At Local fair in Holguin collaboration contract signed

The second edition of the fair “Potenciamos lo local” at ExpoHolguin and the signing of a collaboration contract between the Cuban Fund for Cultural Goods (FCBC) and the Cuban News Agency marked the news interest in the province of Holguin in the week that has just ended.

Focused on boosting trade and the use of the territory’s resources, minindustries, new economic actors and state-owned companies attended during two days to promote alliances that enhance quality goods and services and increase the offers to the population.

The importance of political communication in government management was the focus of a meeting with party authorities of Holguín and the Cuban News Agency, as part of the activities for the 50th anniversary of that media.

Joel Queipo Ruiz, member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and recently elected first secretary in the province, highlighted the relevance of involving the people in important campaigns and decisions, promoting local traditions and wealth.

He also highlighted the signing of a collaboration agreement between the FCBC and the correspondent of the Cuban News Agency, to consolidate the relations of both institutions, within the framework of the celebration day.

Within the news area, it was also highlighted the application by the Agricultural Extension, Research and Training Unit (Ueica) in the territory of experimental methods in banana harvesting, as part of the initiatives to increase the crop’s yield.

Eugenio Hernández, a Ueica specialist, told ACN that the technique consists of cutting several hands to the bunch or desmane, which increases productivity by up to 30 percent, set at 40 tons per 10,000 square meters.

The promotion by the General Directorate of Education in Holguín of the participation of Technical and Vocational Education (ETP) students in cooperative productions, which respond to the needs and potential of each region and contribute to the country’s economic growth, also had a special impact.

Magalis Rodríguez, head of the entity’s ETP department, explained to ACN that the initiative is based on Decree 364/2020 of the Ministry of Education, which establishes the responsibility of the State bodies, the business system and the private management forms in the increase of the qualified force in the polytechnic centers.
