Technological innovation applied to the fishing sector in Mayarí

An equipment for the production of croquettes, made with artisanal raw materials, is one of the strategies used by Acuanipe Aquaculture Company to apply science and technological innovation in its manufacturing processes.

This equipment is made up of mixer pans and a pneumatic stuffing machine, built with local materials and which do not require electricity for their operation, said to ACN María Esther Guerrero Labrada, commercial of this entity located in the municipality of Mayarí in the province of Holguín.

She pointed out that they replaced the sensors of the machinery, obtained through imports, by parts manufactured in Cuba, taking into account the quality and innocuousness standards for each of the products.

She also pointed out among the main contributions the use of the swim bladder of the tench, one of the surpluses of the export lines, rich in collagen, used in hamburgers and seasoned minced meat.

This year, thsi unit will increase the export of processed tench. The goal is to sell 60 tons to foreign customers who recognize the quality of the product.

At the same time, the committee of innovators of that industry maintains the technology in optimal operation, in spite of the limitations in the acquisition of spare parts caused by the intensification of the economic, commercial and financial blockade of the United States against Cuba, the directive indicated.

She said that research continues to incorporate new job offers and to increase the value of use of the by-products, as well as to guarantee the attention to man and the fulfillment of the commitments of the state entity.

Unit Acuanipe produces mortadella, sausage, croquette, hamburgers and in the processing rooms of the industry, about three tons of these lines are obtained daily, destined to social institutions, vulnerable sectors, prioritized programs and the network of fishmongers in the municipalities of Mayarí, Cueto, Banes and other localities, after coordination with the governmental authorities.
