La Luz Communication Center of the Provincial Directorate of Culture in Holguin and the specialized press circle presented, as every year, the nominees for the Cultural Event of 2023 in the province.
Of the numerous artistic events that characterized 2023, ten were chosen for the relevance and impact on the cultural panorama of culture in the territory.
Candidates include the extensive work of the Provincial Center of Fine Arts, for the scope of the exhibition proposals of Ramiro Ricardo, Lesbia Vent Dumois, Lauro Hechavarría, Rafael Zarza and Julio Breff Guilarte.
The publishing and book and literature promotion management of the literary label Ediciones La Luz, recognized as the best in the country at last Havana International Book Fair, also stands out.
Another place was won by the set of shows Cinema and Fiesta Sinfónica, performed by the Holguín Symphonic Orchestra, conducted by Oreste Saavedra, together with students from the José María Ochoa Professional Music School.
Also outstanding were the premieres, 30th anniversary program and artistic repercussion of the La Campana Folkloric Company and the tour of singer-songwriter Lidis Lamorú through several municipalities and rural areas of Holguín, celebrating her 30 years of artistic life.
Also nominated were the community impact of the provincial tour of the Colmenita “Rayitos de Lucero” of Moa, the proposals and scope of the XV National Audiovisual Festival Por Primera Vez and the systematic work of the Rodrigo Prats Lyric Theater of Holguin, with premieres, revivals, presentations and awards won by its members.
Finally, the list includes the solid theoretical program and repercussion of the XXXIV National Cuban Radio Festival and the values of the work of Emerio Medina, winner of the Julio Cortázar 2023 Ibero-American Short Story Award and the only author to receive it twice.
The specialized press will choose the Cultural Event of 2023, while the public of Holguín is invited to choose the one of their preference through the Facebook page of the Center for Cultural Communication La Luz. / By Aniel García Santiesteban
