The Por Primera Vez National Audiovisual Festival, to be held in Holguin from February 21 to 24, dedicated to film directing in Cuba, will be attended by relevant personalities of the seventh art in the country, who will give workshops and talks on the central theme of this 16th edition.

Exceeding the expectations of this event, the Festival comprises six workshops: “Film Direction”, by Fernando Pérez -the most important director of Cuban cinema today-; “Assistant Director”, by Kareline Hernández; “Script”, by Lisabeth Rojas, “Art Direction”, by Pepe Reyes and “Actors Direction”, by Roly Peña.
As in the previous edition, a workshop on the preparation of pitch portfolios will also be given by Rosa María Rodríguez, with the purpose of improving the experience and preparation of the contestants in the conception of their projects for presentation in other funds.
The overcoming and exchange of young filmmakers is the main objective of this event which will be attended by more than 20 guests, collateral samples of El Almacén de la Imagen de Camagüey and El Festival Itinerante Cine Andante de Guantánamo, a space for dialogue between film festivals taking place in the eastern region.
Another novelty of this event will be the reopening of the movie-theater Cine Martí, permanent venue of this festival, which will host workshops and film presentations, including the presentation of the restored copy of Strawberry and Chocolate (1993) by Mirtha Ibarra, one of its protagonists.
