With a double Saturday victory as visitors over the Tigrecitos of Báguanos, at the Ricardo Bent William baseball stadium, the Sultancitos of Holguín reaffirmed their provincial Little League Baseball Crown.
The defending champions won with a 4×3 scoreboard with Dayron Oro smiling and offensive support from Gabriel Sánchez, 2-2, and Yan Kevin Hidalgo, 1- 2 and one run batted in. In the losing cause, José Fuentes hit 2-2 with two runs batted in and one run scored.
Holguin, Little League of Baseball
The team of the provincial capital city won 9×0 with excellent work by Alexandro Martínez, who, in five innings, allowed only one hit and struck out eight times.
Daniel Reyes and Darwin Matos, both 1-2 with a pair of RBIs and an equal number of runs scored, and Yoan Carlos Olivera, 1-1 with two RBIs, were the main offensive contributors to the winning cause.
Now the Little League champions from Holguin province will have the hard task of facing, at the beginning of the interprovincial phase on Saturday, February 10, the team of Bayamo, champion of the province of Granma and current national title holder.
