What is the proposal you make from the research?
– One of the results is the proposal of new tourist products for the province of Holguin, based on the industrial patrimonial values arising from our tangible and intangible fields of study.
They are researches of human character that strengthen the areas of origin of the students and highlight those values in those sites. The proposals also include the creation of a museum in a sugar mill in the municipality of Rafael Freyre”.
Is there any direct relationship with the curricula?
-“These Industrial Heritage topics are included in the curricula of the Bachelor of Tourism degree due to their importance in comprehensive training based on culture and historical roots.”
What are the development prospects in municipalities of the province with this proposal?
-“They are projected through research towards the industrial heritage aimed at the sugar mills of Báguanos and Tacajó, as possible routes for tourism.”
Would it be a form of sugar tourism or another?
-“We believe in industrial tourism: sugar and mining, but very different from other tourist products. Tourism students have discovered wonders. They are very interesting and exciting investigations but practical, at the same time, in their implementation.”
“We talked about sugar tourism with a perspective of its future development in the municipality of Báguanos with the proposal of the excursion to the “Central Reloj” (Clock Sugar Mill).

Will it allow the expansion of job offers in those areas?
Yes, it would allow development in those areas by creating spaces for traditional Cuban gastronomy, food pairing, and offering products made from sugar cane and its by-products. Undoubtedly, it will make it possible to offer gastronomic and other services to the inhabitants of those places.
What values and traditions do you propose based on the studies carried out?
-“Offer guarapo (sugar cane syrup) to tourists, the preparation of a traditional meal. Show how the festivals associated with other centuries of our history were held. “They are very attractive issues for tourists who come to these places and would promote the development of these sites.”
Do you think that the decision-makers will assume it from the Ministry of Tourism?
-“I fully trust that it will be possible, they are exciting investigations, but they are practical and it would be very successful with the tourist destination Cuba.”
