With the analysis of core issues related to the economic-social development of Holguin and the implementation of strategies for the wellbeing of the people, the Provincial Council of People’s Power met at the ExpoHolguin fairgrounds.
With the presence of Ernesto Santiesteban Velázquez, member of the Central Committee and first secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba in Holguín province, and presided over by Manuel Hernández Aguilera, governor of the province, the meeting became a space to check the fulfillment of the agreements adopted by the popular representatives in previous meetings.
During the meeting, the government measures to correct distortions and reimpulse the Economy in 2024, indicated by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Cuba, Manuel Marrero Cruz, were discussed.
In this scenario Santiesteban expressed that these actions are preceded by days of analysis, their implementation is not improvised and they have a progressive schedule of application.
“We must generate confidence that these measures will be beneficial for our people and through them we will solve the economic problems we are facing today”.
The Governor of Holguín referred to the need to take action in each municipality to solve difficulties in the different spheres, in order to guarantee a 2024 superior with respect to the previous year.

Other topics addressed were food production and the search for alternatives to meet the needs that persist today and affect the population in the first instance.
The importance of aligning the structures of the municipal systems, complying with the proposed indicators, contributing to the prioritized programs and taking advantage of local potentialities, whose impact translates into autonomy of the municipalities, was also emphasized.
Troubles with discipline, illegalities and crimes prosecuted during 2023 was also analyzed. In this regard, the Governor said that these manifestations attempt against the most sacred of our socialist process and referred that the best weapon to face these facts are our values and the commitment with the construction of a better country.
Yunia Pérez Hernández, vice-governor of Holguín, as well as presidents, vice-presidents of the Municipal Assemblies, mayors and other officials also participated in the governmental meeting.
