The celebration this Tuesday of the 15th anniversary of the creation of Empresa Constructora de Obras de Ingeniería No. 16 (ECOI 16), comes in the midst of high commitments for the nearly 700 construction workers that make up this force.
Created as an entity specialized in the construction of the East-West Water Diversion, ECOI 16 took on the trade name of Castor and ratified in 2023 the status of national vanguard of the Construction Workers’ Union in Cuba.
The construction of dams and canals is one of the company’s core values, which is also specialized in waterproofing with high-tech equipment. During the year about to come to an end, and in the midst of the country’s financial tensions, ECOI 16 made progress in the construction of the of Levisa Dam.
The celebration of the national event for the Cuban Builder’s Day, which took place on the on December 6, 2008, was a unique recognition, said Carlos Luis Abreu Junto, general director of the institution.

In the record of this socialist state enterprise stand out facts and singular events, such as participation in the International Concrete Workshop, Havana International Fair, and similar events in El Salvador, where they left behind evidences of the productipn results linked to the largest hydraulic project in the history of Cuba: the East-West Water Transfer.
