Stable power generation at Felton Thermoelectric Power Station

Unit one of Lidio Ramón Pérez Thermoelectric Power Plant in Felton, in the municipality of Mayarí, in the province of Holguín, after 17 days of maintenance, is once again generating electricity and has reached a stable delivery of 210 megawatts (MW) to the National Electroenergy System (SEN) since Friday.

Eric Milanés Quinzán, general director of the industry, confirmed to journalist Emilio Rodríguez Pupo, of Radio Mayarí, that after the gradual start-up process, work is being carried out on the adjustment of indicators and efficiency parameters to continue assimilating load progressively.

As part of the main actions carried out, the executive highlighted, due to their complexity, the maintenance of the start-up and output transformers and the replacement of seven pipe fragments, known as mochetas, inside the boiler.

On this occasion, taking into account the stability of the temperature and vibration parameters of the bearings, it was not necessary to carry out work on the turbine.

Group one was disconnected from the Electric System since November 20, in order to carry out a programmed maintenance aimed at restoring the unit’s availability to 240 MW after 213 days and 15 hours of continuous generation, considered a record of operation for a thermal block in Cuba.

The dismantling of the boiler is currently being carried out in that industry, works go at a stable pace.
