Holguin athletes remember victims of the crime in Barbados

Students and teachers of the Sports School in Holguin remembered the 73 victims of the crime in Barbados; one of the most terrible events in Cuban history, on October 6th, 1076.

The event was attended by Bárbara Díaz Ramírez, member of the Provincial Bureau of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) in Holguín, Osmany Viñals – First Secretary of the PCC in the municipality of Holguín-, Pavel Bolívar Ruiz, official of the National Committee of the Young Communist League (UJC) and Rafael Antonio Brown Sutherland, provincial director of Sports.

With the commitment of never forgetting the victims of terrorism and on behalf of the entire generation of athletes being trained at this institution, Yodalkis Espinosa Prevals, director of Holguin EIDE, said that “every October 6 we continue writing in the book of the Homeland that the martyrs of Barbados are icons of Cuban sport, symbols of struggle, of the continuity of the Cespedes revolution, and for them we will be faithful followers of the legacy of our greatest athlete, Fidel”.

The space was propitious to decorate the Women’s Artistic Gymnastics Team for its excellent performance in the 59th edition of the National High Performance School Games, where they won first place.

This school, which trains athletes from Holguin province, also received awards such as the condition of Headquarters of the National Technical Center for Women’s Judo and the recognition to the best teacher of school year 2022-2023: Narlys Hernández Infante, with a meritorious work in the comprehensive formation of the future stars of the Cuban sport.
