Fiesta Sinfónica, in its fifth edition, will offer a concert-performance this Saturday, September 30, at 7:00 p.m., on a public stage in Carlos Manuel de Céspedes Park, known as San José, located in the historic center of the city of Holguin, in eastern Cuba.

The concert with script by writer and journalist Erian Peña has in its program “Despertar Guajiro” by Rodrigo Prats (a traditional musical symphonic poem). Choreography by Vianki González and a cast of 122 artists.

Pieces such as Danzón Almendra, Danza del sable and Los ejes de mi carreta will be in the voice of Rafael Hernández, singer of the Teatro Lírico Rodrigo Prats. Poems by Virgilio Piñera, Nicolás Guillén and Delfín Prats will be interpreted by narrator Fermín López Hernández and soloists Nadiel Mejías and Emilia Pupo will perform songs from the national and international pentagram.

Fiesta Sinfónica is a project created in 2016 by maestro Orestes Saavedra, director of the Holguín Symphony Orchestra.

Among its objectives is to bring art closer to Holguin families from a Symphonic Orchestra with the participation of artistic education.

According to its creator, it is “the only project with this experience in the country. Where artistic education and the Symphony Orchestra come together. Doing a concert in the park with outdoor students is a dream come true. And with a varied repertoire.

The project has the sponsorship of the Provincial Direction of Culture and the Provincial Council of the Scenic Arts, among other institutions of the Cuban culture in Holguin.

The Holguín Symphony Orchestra (OSH for its Spanish acronym) is one of the youngest orchestras of this type in Cuba.
It was created in 2000 by pianist and professor Cecilio Gómez, but now is under the baton of Harold Ricardo Corella and its assistant conductor is Orestes Saavedra.
