The former Motel Las Palmas is once again providing services in the community of Maceo, in the municpalty of Cacocum, Holguin province. After more than a decade of abandonment, it has become the main attraction of the area, a family business that seeks to provide enjoyment and culture.

Since last August 18, the facilities of what used to be the recreational Motel of the former Antonio Maceo Agroindustrial Complex have returned to provide services thanks to the investment of Yuriel Alvarez Gonzalez, an entrepreneur who has fulfilled a claim of the voters of this community.

The Motel offers pool service again, from 10.00 a.m. to 06.00 p.m., and includes a bar that offers drinks and tapas, beer and jams, among other products, and is also rented for parties and other events.

According to Yuriel Álvarez González, a self-employed worker who manages the facility, “the idea is to gradually rescue other premises such as the reserved area and the cabins, which are completely deteriorated, but what we are looking for is to offer as many quality services as possible”.

The Motel Las Palmas has become in a short time an important cultural and recreational center by offering parties and concerts on weekend nights. For this purpose, a stage was built on which groups such as Alerta Roja, La Sonora de Las Tunas, Banda Latina have performed and the next concert is expected to be that of the duet Bayan & Onega.

Not only the youth have benefited from this project, but also the children, in coordination with the local House of Culture and INDER (Sports Institute), have benefited from recreational activities free of charge, enlivened by the presentation of the community group Identidad.
