Core issues for the country are tackled by Cuban deputies during the debates at the National Assembly of the People’s Power (NAPP), prior to a new session of the Cuban Parliament.

The NAPP will hold the first ordinary period of sessions from July 20th to the 22nd; the agenda will cover some of the main concerns of the Cuban population today.

The permanent work commissions of the NAPP will evaluate core issueson Tuesday and Wednesday as the ongoing popular control actions, the prospects for the supply of water to citizens, the development of the materials industry, the results of the implementation of the Families Code s and the update of actions of the National Program against racism and discrimination.

The deputies will analyze the results of the control carried out by the Comptroller General of the Republic of the State Budget, as well as the impact of the initiatives approved for attention to demographic dynamics, in relation to the situation of adolescent pregnancy.

The bill for the Military Penal Code and the implementation of the Food Sovereignty and Food and Nutrition Security Law will be discussed on July 20th.

On the 21st, legislators will address the Comprehensive Policy for the Care of Children and Youth, as well as the current situation and perspectives of the country’s energy system and the measures adopted to control prices.

The report on the behavior of the economy in the first half of 2023 is expected to be presented on the last day of sessions, followed by the presentation of the settlement of the Budget for 2022.
