Gibara International Film Festival to start with Foudre Swiss movie

Gibara International Film Festival will have its start with Foudre Swiss movie, whose screening in the nicknamed Villa Blanca de los Cangrejos (White Village of the Crabs), brings the seventh art again to that coastal town in Holguin province, from the 1rst to the 5th of August.

Foudre, which is part of the festival’s official selection, will be screened as part of the opening day at 9:30 pm at the Jibá movie theater in Gibara, according to the event’s Youtube account, where the trailer of the movie was shared.

The presentation will be in charge of Nicolas Rabaeus, creator of the music for Foudre, which is set in the summer of 1900, in Switzerland, when the sudden death of her older sister forces Elisabeth to return home.

Stifled by the strict rules of the village, Elisabeth is gradually forced to rebel for her right to live her life.

This year, the Gibara International Film Festival will pay tribute to its 20 years of existence and will have a gender focus as a cross-cutting theme, not only in the audiovisual content, but also in exhibitions, workshops and plays.

The organizers have announced that during the closing day, the Lucía Award will be presented to actor, producer and filmmaker Jorge Perugorría, for his important role in the relaunching and revival of the event between 2016 and 2022, who from this year assumes his participation as Honorary President of the event.
