Papermakers invited to Ibero-American Culture Festival

Papermakers have been called to take in the 29th Ibero-American Culture Festival, as a way to promote this way of making art.

In order to encourage the participation of paper masters in this event, the Provincial Center of Plastic Arts of Holguin, Cuadernos Papiro Publishing House and Casa de Iberoamerica are calling them to share their experiences in the Papermakers Meeting, to be held from October 24 to 30, next October.

On this occasion, the event will pay tribute to Casa de Iberoamerica, on its 30th anniversary, for its tireless work in the preservation and promotion of identity values, and to Cuban geographer, speleologist, archeologist and scientist Antonio Nuñez Jimenez Jimenez, on the centenary of his birth.

In the call, launched by Holguin Art Center as the main organizing institution, it is specified that “handmade paper has as a principle the care of the environment, through recycling and the use of ecological materials, which is a fundamental premise of the meeting and of the international movement of papermakers”.

The event will be open to papermakers from different regions of the country and the world, who will have access to workshops, talks, lectures and exhibitions on the handmade elaboration of paper and its possibilities as a support for creation, among other topics inherent to this activity.

The organizing committee specifies that the Encounter of Papermakers will conclude with an exhibition that will show the results of the workshops and, as a memory of the event, the works exhibited will become part of the institutional collection of the Provincial Center of Plastic Arts of Holguin.

Applications from participants will be received until September 8, through the social network accounts of the Art Center, Casa Ibero and Cuadernos Papiro Publishing House or by e-mails papiroeditorahlg@gmail.com or artistasholguineros@gmail.com, obtaining upon payment of the registration fee the possibility of access to all the activities of the Ibero-American Culture Festival, as well as a certificate of accreditation.
