Cachorros of Holguin vs Leones at the Calixto Garcia Stadium

The Cachorros de Holguín host the Leones de Industriales at the Mayor General Calixto García stadium this Wednesday at 2:00 pm, local time, at the start of the tenth game of the LXII National Baseball Series.

The Holguineros, with a record of 24-20, share the third, fourth and fifth places in the standings, a game and a half away from the top. In their last game, the Cubs lost 2-3 to the Toros de Camagüey.

For their part, the Leones have just won three of four games against the Azucareros de Villa Clara, all of which ended in shutouts. The team from the capital city, with a 20-24 record, is twelfth in the standings, five and a half games behind the leaders from Santiago de Cuba (26-19).

Felicio García’s team stands out for its defense, second in the championship with an average of 974, only surpassed by Villa Clara (979), while the pitching is working for a clean runs average (PCL) of 4.67, fourth best in the league.

The Cubs’ offense averages 290, tenth in the series, below the average of 295, however they are seventh in runs batted in (216), but tenth fourth in home runs (18).

For their part, the Leones de la Capital share fifth and sixth place in pitching effectiveness (4.75), and seventh and eighth in defense (969), but are second to last in batting (265), runs batted in (179) and home runs (17).

There is no doubt that Industriales’ performance is still far from the quality of their team, but after being mired in the basement, they are showing a positive reaction, making them a very difficult opponent to beat.
