The National Exercise of control and supervision of the critical route of licit drugs took place in Holguin as every six-month and simultaneously this checked in Cuba, with the purpose of controlling those substances of medical use used by the National Health System, in order to take into account the risks and vulnerabilities, as well as the identification of possible criminal acts and illegalities.
In this regard, Mariagni Fernández Suárez, head of the Pharmaceutical and Optical Services section in the Provincial Health Directorate , as part of this exercise among the most important actions we reviewed compliance with the plans of measures derived from previous exercises, checked the application of the regulations in force, the safety and security conditions of the units visited were verified, we evaluated the causes and conditions present as vulnerabilities in the control system and we trained the human resources in charge of guarding, handling, producing, prescribing, dispensing, applying and controlling drugs for medical use.
The control and inspection of medicines with drug-like effects covered community pharmacies, polyclinics, hospitals and other selected health care units, which were visited by the 15 commissions set up in the province, one in each municipality and one at the provincial level. Thus, all the units under analysis were covered in that period of time.

It should be noted, according to the Master of Science, that this activity was governed by Resolution 25 of the year 2022, where 26 products considered as drug-like effects were fixed. Among them are narcotics such as Morphine, Fentanyl and Cosedal; psychotropics such as Methylphenidate, Alprazolam and Clonazepam and substances with drug-like effects among which Carbamazepine, Tramadol and Amitriptyline stand out.
This exercise was planned, controlled and evaluated at the country level by the National Director of Medicines and Medical Technologies, while in each province it was organized and carried out by the Provincial Health Directorate to evaluate the main results obtained and the follow-up of the action plans.
