Colosos champions Eastern Zone of Sugar Baseball League
By winning two games as visitors, over the saquad UBPC Honduras of Guantánamo, the Colosos de Urbano Noris won the Eastern Zone of the 41st edition of the Sugar League Baseball League and reached the ticket for the semifinal phase.
A great hit by Marnolquis Aguiar in the bottom of the ninth brought in the run from second that gave the visitors the victory, 4×3, in the second game of the championship that had been rained off.
The same pitchers of the second match jumped into the hill, Yusmel Velázquez continued to dominate rivals to leave the Colosos with a 2×1 lead after seven complete innings.

The Colosos’ first run came on Jorge Luis Peña’s home run and the second inning, while Yulián Concepción drove in the second run.
At the beginning of the ninth the representation of Holguín arrived with a 2×1 lead at the Reinaldo Wilson stadium in Honduras, in the municipality of Manuel Tames, but the locals, off Walnier Osorio, managed to tie the game and take the lead 3×2.
The winners finished with 10 hits and two errors and the losers hit seven rockets and failed three times defensively. The hit went to Frank Navarro (2-0) and the setback went to starter Oriolvis Cobas.

In the second inning, Eover Matos’ team had another praiseworthy performance by Carlos Santiesteban (6-1) to win 4×1.
On this occasion, the Colosos produced six hits, two more than their opponents, who made three errors in the game. The setback went to Carlos Masó.
In the eastern semifinal, also of five to the best in three and starting as a visitor, the Urbano Noris team will face the current national runners-up of Primero de Enero team, Ciego de Avila province, which dominated 3-0 in the final of the central-eastern zone to its similar from Ignacio Agramonte sugar mill, of Camagüey.

The western semifinal of the Sugar Baseball League will have as protagonists the defending champions of “14 de Julio” sugar mill, from Cienfuegos, and Hector Molina, from Mayabeque.
Los Colosos, with four provincial crowns (2003, 2005,2006 and 2023), seek their first national title and the fourth for Holguín, after those achieved by Fernando de Dios (1989) and the two of Cristino Naranjo (2015 and 2018).
