The last day of the Gibara International Film Festival, marked by the granting of collateral awards, also hosted an exchange between actors and actresses with the participation of experts and people where Flora Borrego, Enrique Bueno, Félix Beatón, Jorge Perugorría, Bárbaro Marin, René de la Cruz and Mirta Ibarra shared views at the local Casa de la Cultura.
The prestigious artists said they were happy to return to Gibara, “this magical place discovered by Humberto Solás, and see that while the Festival is still alive, the dream that gave birth to it is still alive”.
Perugorría added that this occasion is special because Sergio and Aldo are at the head of the Festival, an event in the hands of Solás family. They thanked the ICAIC and the government of Holguin for defending and betting on keeping the Festival alive in these complex economic times.
They also emphasized on the importance of this Festival for Cuban cinema, and that the true protagonists of the Festival are the people of Gibare, who give it its magic and human warmth, as well as the spiritual and physical transformation of Villa Blanca.
Collateral Awards Ceremony

As in the previous edition, the Festival counted with collateral juries such as that of the Cine Clubs, chaired by Lázaro L. Alderete, and the Youth Jury, which was composed of 12 members, with gender parity, and six of them from Gibara.
