The Partners’ Gathering in Holguin: Over a Decade of Trova Music

The Partners’ Gathering has been a landmark for trova music in Holguin for over a decade. Bringing together trova singers and audiences every week at the The Little Stream café.

Conceived as a shared dream between the Empresa de Grabaciones y Ediciones Musicales (Egrem) in Holguin. With the trova singers Fernando Cabreja and the late Raúl Prieto. The gathering was designed to be a space for trova music, poetry, and a meeting place for old friends who reunite every week.

Carlos Lam Mora, director of Egrem in Holguin, explained to the Cuban News Agency that the gathering was conceived as a place where trova music, poetry, and old friends can come together and exchange ideas.

As a cultural institution, we must listen to artists, not only through their music. But also to the spaces they envision and the conversations they seek to create. Based on this, we must respond to their needs and lay the necessary foundations for them to carry out their creative work, added Lam Mora.

The venue has successfully kept the essence of Holguin’s trova tradition alive. Bringing together weekly artists such as the troubadours Fernando Cabreja, Lay Verdecia, and Yanco León. As well as Camilo de la Peña and Norberto Leyva.

During the current summer season, Egrem in Holguin has prioritized the event at The Little Stream. Which hosts a musical jam session with different local troubadours and performers each day of the week. Offering a varied and high-quality program.

In addition to this event on Mercado Street, located within the Plaza de La Marqueta Cultural Center. Egrem offers visitors a variety of gastronomic and cultural experiences that enrich their visit to the provincial capital.

The institution maintains active programs at centers such as the Holguin House of Music and the Bariay Cultural Center. Offering activities for all audiences and of local interest.
