Marrero proposes resizing the state bureaucracy

The draft of the Law on the Organization of the Central State Administration proposes the resizing of public management (bureaucracy). As outlined in the 2026 government program, Prime Minister Manuel Marrero announced on Tuesday.

The project, which will be presented to the National Assembly of People’s Power next July, strengthens the work on public policies.

“A country like ours cannot have such a bureaucratic structure. The 27 existing Central State Administration agencies will be reduced to 21. We are not giving up on continuing to study the issue,” Marrero noted on social media.

He affirmed that this is an opportunity to reorganize, make better use of existing human resources. And to enhance the capabilities of the staff.

“It is undoubtedly a very complex process, but a necessary one,” he concluded.
