The city of parks, still enveloped in the mystique of the thirty-third edition of the Romerías de Mayo (May Pilgrimages). Witnessed an exceptional literary event: the presentation of the previously unpublished poetry collection “Everyday” by the great Fina García Marruz (1923-2022).
The launch took place as the closing event of Palabras Compartidas (Shared Words). A space that traditionally lends prestige to the program of the Festival of Young Artists.
During the “Abrirse las Constelaciones” (Opening the Constellations) gathering. Editor Liset Prego and designer Robert Ráez shared with the audience the details of this volume. Which joins the prestigious Mehrlicht collection.
Prego emphasized that the book offers a unique glimpse into the more personal side of the National Literature Prize winner. And the Reina Sofía Prize for Ibero-American Poetry recipient.
Through its pages, the reader embarks on a journey through the author’s daily life. Captured with the sensitivity and depth that always characterized this member of the emblematic Orígenes group.
Moreover the presentation of the poetry collection not only honored Fina’s memory. Also served as a platform to celebrate the 29th anniversary of Ediciones La Luz, the publishing house of the Hermanos Saíz Association (AHS) in Holguin.
Luis Yuseff, director of the publishing house, emphasized the evolution of this project. Which began in the late 1990s: “The publishing house has transcended the initial dream of its founders. To become an indispensable cultural reference point. Maintaining a solid audiovisual and literary legacy throughout the country.”
Ediciones La Luz was founded in 1997 by a group of young creators. Initially led by the writer Bladimir Zamora. It is considered one of the most awarded publishing houses in Cuba for design and literary quality. Standing out for its audiobooks and reading promotion campaigns.
