Ediciones La Luz (La Luz Editions), the publishing house of the Hermanos Saíz Association (AHS) in Holguin. It will present its catalog of new releases at the 34th Havana International Book Fair (FILH 2026). Which will take place from August 10th to 16th in Havana.
The literary event, dedicated to the centennial of the birth of the historical leader of the Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz. With Russia as the guest of honor, will feature a presentation space for the publishing house in the Cuba Pavilion, a sub-venue belonging to the AHS.
Luis Yuseff, director of Ediciones La Luz, told the Cuban News Agency that the catalog will include titles of poetry, theater, essays, fiction, and audiobooks. A selection in which editors Liset Prego and Lorena Velázquez also participated.
Among the new poetry titles are Madre, todo está en orden (Mother, Everything Is in Order) by María Laura Germán Aguiar; Break Point by Yasmani González from Pinar del Rio. And El río fecundo (The Fertile River) by Lázaro Castillo. These will be joined by Región de corte (Region of the Court) by Tomás Escobar, and La foto de Rimbaud (Rimbaud’s Photo) by Raúl Leyva, both part of the Abrirse las Constelaciones (Opening the Constellations) collection.
In theater, the catalog will feature Esta Tebas, está Antígona (This Thebes, There Is Antigone) by Manuel Peláez, and Ofelia by Juan Edilberto Sosa, winner of the Villanueva Critics’ Prize. As well as La visita (The Visit) by Alain Pérez from Matanzas, and Hold in Cold Field by Nelson Beatón.
The essay and research genres will be represented by Bustos erguidos, Poscrítica y trascendencia (Upright Busts, Post-Criticism and Transcendence), by Yanetsy Ariste. Cultura y hegemonía (Culture and Hegemony), by José Ernesto Nováez.
As a special offering, the publishing house will present the audiobook De cada día (From Every Day), a poetry collection by Fina García Marruz. Produced at the Radio Angulo studios as part of the “Aquí se escucha La Luz” (Here You Can Hear the Light) campaign, dedicated to the station’s 90th anniversary.
Some titles will not have sufficient printed copies. So they will be available in digital format for free download during the Book Fair through the Isla Libros platform.
The publishing house will also take advantage of the event to present the Celestino Short Story Prizes to Raúl Piad, for La suma de todo lo posible (The Sum of All That Is Possible), and to Humberto Fuentes, for Cubacabana. They will also present Morir un poco (To Die a Little), by Andy Jorge Blanco, winner of the 25th edition of the Celestino Prize. And El día de los santos inocentes (The Day of the Holy Innocents), by Andrés Cabrera.
Ediciones La Luz will be presenting their books on August 14th at the Line 18 Cultural Station and on August 15th in the May Hall of the Cuba Pavilion.
According to the official press release from FILH 2026, the event will offer more than 1,300 new publications and sell over 2.4 million copies. With events extending to the provinces until September 6th and concluding in Santiago de Cuba.
