Ana Celia Hernández Molina is one of those nurses dedicated to caring, teaching, and assisting with profound vocation at the “Lucía” Hospital. The post states that she began her nursing career in 1987 as a Nursing Technician. A decade later, in 1998, she earned her Bachelor’s degree. Later, in 2006, she brought her knowledge and solidarity to the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.
Her healthcare service has been one of continuous improvement and professional growth. “With more than two decades dedicated to teaching, over 15 years as a Master of Science. Ongoing training that includes a diploma in critical care. I have come to understand that this profession demands not only academic preparation but also human dedication.”
“I have lived through many experiences, but without a doubt, the most impactful was during the COVID-19 pandemic. Those were very difficult times, full of uncertainty, fear, and pain. I lost my mother in the midst of that battle, which marked my life forever. However, we also witnessed many recoveries, lives saved, and sincere gratitude. That period taught me that caring is not only a duty, it is a privilege. Accompanying people in their most vulnerable moments gives meaning to all the effort.”
For Ana Celia Hernández, nursing is one of the noblest professions. Allowing her to care for, support, and improve the lives of others with love and respect. “To the new generations, I would say never lose your empathy, even in an increasingly technological world. Every small gesture counts and can transform lives.”
The “Lucía” Hospital also recognizes the work of Yanie de la Cruz Sánchez. Also who approaches nursing with human commitment and absolute dedication to the care of others.

“Caring for others is an act of constant dedication, but I’ve learned that you can’t give what you don’t have. Balance is a daily, sometimes fragile, construction. No one goes through this profession alone. My colleagues on duty are my daily support, my sisters in white coats. With them, I share silences, glances that say everything, and strength that multiplies when it seems insufficient.”
Cruz Sánchez knows well the value of sacrifice and the satisfaction of serving. Which is why she advises new generations “never to see only beds or diagnoses, but stories, names, fears, and hopes.” In her experience, “the true strength of nursing lies in uniting science and compassion.”
She also recognizes that the greatest tool is “the ability to remain human in the face of adversity. To hold a hand and remember that no one should go through vulnerability alone.”
This passion for this noble profession is also shared by Marcia Campos González. Another of the women in white whom the Clinical Surgical Hospital honors on its institutional Facebook page.
The post states that for almost four decades, nursing has been one of the most humane and valuable decisions of her life.

“It’s a profession of great dedication and sacrifice, but when you do everything with love, everything flows.” There is a sense of satisfaction in a duty fulfilled, even when you sometimes put your own personal life aside. Love for what we do is what sustains us.
“I have witnessed the recovery of patients both in Cuba and on international missions, where the effort has been greater. But the exhaustion doesn’t matter when you manage to save a life and receive the sincere gratitude of the patient and their family.”
Campos González has ensured continuous care for patients with emotional support and the promotion of healthy habits. Contributing to the improvement of their health.
With vocation and commitment, she has dedicated her life to caring for others: “Nursing requires human sensitivity, responsibility, dedication, and sacrifice. You should never doubt that every day a nurse accompanies a life.”
The development of nursing human capital is a priority in Cuba. The majority of active nurses in the province of Holguin hold a bachelor’s degree.
Also the nurses at the “Lucía” Hospital, sensitive and selfless, dedicate themselves to the utmost care of their patients. And to reducing their suffering until their last minute of life. Adhering to the highest standards of best practices.
This altruistic attitude of saving lives and helping the most vulnerable dates back to the teachings of Florence Nightingale (1820-1910). The founder of modern nursing, and reflects the humanistic approach of the Cuban Health System.
