Alexander Garcés, director of the Comandante Ernesto Che Guevara mining company in the municipality of Moa, led a moving ceremony. At the reduction furnace plant, where a work brigade was awarded the prestigious May Day flag.
This union recognition honored the team that successfully restored the dust collection system. A vital task for industrial efficiency and environmental protection in this Holguin region. The flag was presented after the successful cleaning and unclogging of the gas duct and chimney of the facility.

Garcés acknowledged the dedication, courage, and skills of the shift workers. Under the guidance of specialist José Hernández, completed a complex task that increased the operational efficiency of the electrostatic precipitators and furnaces.
Company executives emphasized the positive environmental impact of this work. Also both for the factory and the surrounding communities, by significantly reducing particulate emissions. They highlighted that the May Day flag-raising ceremony not only recognizes a technical achievement but also the workers’ commitment to sustainability and clean production.
This recognition is part of the activities commemorating International Workers’ Day. It celebrates the role of Cuban innovators within the mining industry.
