Minjus informs about the use of criminal records in Cuba and abroad

The Cuban Ministry of Justice (Minjus) highlighted on its Facebook page that the Criminal Record Certificate is an official document. That certifies whether or not a person has any registered criminal convictions in the country. It is essential for immigration, employment, or academic procedures abroad.

According to Minjus Resolution 609 of 2023, “criminal record certificates are valid for one year from the date of issuance.” However, most countries require that they be issued no more than six months prior.

To be valid abroad, the certificate must be obtained and legalized by authorized institutions. Including the National Organization of Collective Law Firms (ONBC). Also which issues the document with the notation for foreign use by individuals. An essential requirement for its legalization by Minjus.

Payments for services and stamps can be made electronically. Except when the destination is the United States, a country that only accepts the physical stamp. As proof of payment and generally does not require legalization by the Ministry of Justice (Minjus).

In Cuba, there are five categories of certifications: personal national, national by organization, personal foreign, foreign by organization, and exempt.
