Iran warns of nuclear risk after attacks on Bushehr

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi warned on Sunday that any radioactive leak at the Bushehr nuclear facility. Located on the Persian Gulf coast, could have devastating consequences for countries in the region.

In a message posted on the X platform, the Iranian foreign minister criticized the international community’s silence. Regarding the attacks attributed to the United States and Israel against nuclear and petrochemical facilities in his country.

“Israel and the United States have bombed our Bushehr facility four times. The radioactive fallout will not end up killing people in Tehran. Rather in the capitals of the Gulf Cooperation Council,” he warned.

Araghchi also questioned the international reaction to these events. Comparing it to the stance taken regarding incidents at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear facility in Ukraine.

The minister stated that attacks against energy infrastructure. Including the petrochemical sector, reflect the strategic objectives of these operations.

Previously, Iranian media reported that an attack on the Bushehr nuclear facility resulted in the death of a security guard. The fourth such incident since the offensive began on February 28th.

These events occur within the context of the military escalation in the region. Which has left thousands of victims, while Tehran responds with missile and drone strikes.
