The residents of Holguin gathered for the final farewell to those who bravely lost their lives. In what their surviving comrades described as an imperialist massacre perpetrated against the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.
Under the somber winter sky, and accompanied by the steady march of the ceremonial platoon composed of members of the Revolutionary Armed Forces and the Ministry of the Interior, the mortal remains of the fallen were carried.

Once again, bombs, gunpowder, and bullets brought death and took five sons of this town, brothers who fell fighting bravely. They demonstrated the courage of true Cubans, and today they will not be buried as beloved bodies. But planted in their cherished soil so that new generations may sprout, stated Osmani Viñals García, First Secretary of the Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba in the capital municipality.
In the memory of their families remains the recollection of embraces, shattered dreams, the last phone call, and the heartbeat of trying to keep alive the voice of their loved one. They find solace in the courage shown in the line of duty, which overcame the fear of death.

For Lieutenant Colonel Abel Guerra Perera, one of the survivors of the U.S. military attack against Venezuela. “The honor of the fallen will be eternal; although they threw everything at us. We faced them and we will continue to do so.”

The stories were interrupted by the broken voices of those who still vividly remember that awakening amidst collapses and explosions. While their arms remained firm in the salute that honors and glorifies the fallen.
As an expression of unity, the people attended the burial ceremony for the remains of the combatants. With the honor and commitment to defend the right to sovereignty of Latin American nations.
At the Pantheon of the Fallen in Defense, in the provincial capital, the solemn farewell was attended by Major General Eugenio Armando Rabilero, head of the Eastern Army. Joel Queipo Ruiz, member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and first secretary in the province. Manuel Hernández Aguilera, governor of Holguin.
