Venezuelan Executive Vice President Delcy Rodríguez demanded the immediate release of President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores. Today during a meeting of the National Defense Council, the country’s highest governing body.
In a national radio and television broadcast, the vice president announced the activation of the state of emergency decree. Signed by the president following the threat of imperialist aggression. She delivered the decree to the president of the Supreme Court of Justice for its immediate implementation.
Rodríguez declared that this armed aggression constitutes “a terrible stain on the development of bilateral relations” with the United States. That President Nicolás Maduro and First Lady Cilia Flores were captured during the operation.
She reiterated that the true objective of the aggression is to seize energy, mineral, and natural resources. Also that “the world and the international community must know this.”
Moreover, she pointed out that the State Public Powers, the Council of Vice Presidents, Foreign Minister Yván Gil, and other special guests were summoned to the Council. Meaning that the highest military command and all the political forces of national power in Venezuela were present.
She indicated that the international community joined in and raised its voices in support of Venezuela from China, Russia, Latin America, the Caribbean, Africa, and Asia. “The governments of the world are simply shocked that Venezuela is the victim and target of an attack of this nature. Which has Zionist undertones,” she added.
The Vice President considered this action shameful and affirmed that if there is one thing the Venezuelan people and this country are clear about, it is that “we will never again be slaves and colonies of any empire, whatever its nature.”
“We reaffirm this Government’s willingness to maintain dialogue to address a constructive agenda. And the response has been this aggression, which flagrantly violates Articles One and Two of the Charter of the United Nations,” she stated.
Finally she stated that President Maduro extended his hand to the people of the United States and reaffirmed how communication channels—diplomatic, political, and institutional—should function. In a true state that manages international relations for the well-being of its people.
Rodríguez asserted that they are ready to defend Venezuela and its natural resources. Affirmed that the people are highly aware of the significance of their hydrocarbons and other resources.
