The Thought Congress and Our Memory Award invites all young Cubans under 35 years of age to participate in its 21st edition. Which will take place from May 3rd to 7th, 2026.

The event, held during the Romerías Mayo festival, will be dedicate to the La Periquera Provincial History Museum, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary. Also the 40th anniversary of the Hermanos Saíz Association (AHS), and the cultural vision of Fidel Castro Ruz, in the year of his centennial.
Libán Espinosa, the event organizer, explained to the Cuban News Agency (ACN) that submissions should address these themes through art and research. Submissions will be accepted via email at congresomemorianuestra@gmail.com until January 31st, 2026.
In addition to recognition at the closing ceremony following a day of conferences and in-person exhibitions. The winners will receive a cash prize of 10,000 pesos.
Espinosa emphasized the importance of discussing and engaging with the figure of Fidel Castro. In accordance with Cuban cultural policy that prioritizes society, history, and identity.
He recalled the man who led diverse intellectual movements in the country and maintained a fraternal relationship with the AHS (Hermanos Saíz Association). Of which he was an Honorary Member and a mentor to young people.
The topics to be addressed also include research on local and regional traditions, customs, and identity. The contributions of the AHS and Fidel Castro to the creation, production, and promotion of young artists. And studies exploring the historical leader’s influence on the country’s cultural development.
Finally the Congress of Thought and the Memoria Nuestra Award are considered the backbone of the Romerías de Mayo (May Pilgrimages). With the participation of international attendees and providing a valuable forum. For exchanging experiences from diverse sociocultural realities around the world.
