Due to the proximity of Hurricane Melissa to the eastern territory, the 31st edition of the Ibero-American Cultural Festival in Holguin, which had brought together nearly 100 participants from more than 12 countries since October 24th, has been canceled.
According to Isaíris Rojas, president of the Organizing Committee. The decision is intended to ensure the safety of its guests. Taking into account the needs of the Civil Defense in situations of this type.
Specifically, she reported that only the sessions of the Ibero-American Congress of Thought at the Pernik Hotel. Also the awards ceremony for the José Manuel Guarch Del Monte Cultural Research Competition were held.
Rojas expressed her gratitude for the understanding and support of all the artists, institutions, guests, and the public who annually participate in this great celebration of Ibero-American identity. One of the most representative events of Holguin and one of the most important of its kind in the country.
Thus, the organizing committee, cultural institutions, and leaders in Holguin join the authorities’ call to comply with safety measures in the face of this dangerous hydrometeorological phenomenon.
