The Foreign Ministers of ALBA-TCP announced today the formation of a Special Mission from the integration bloc to visit the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean and defend the peace proclamation.
At the 26th ALBA-TCP Political Council, which met at the United Nations in the context of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly. The Final Declaration stated that this initiative will be comprised of high-level delegates from its member states.
The purpose will be to engage in dialogue with governments, parliaments, academics, and peoples. Also to mobilize regional and international support in favor of the sovereignty, stability, and self-determination of our peoples, the document stated.
It also highlighted “the urgent need” to establish a joint and sovereign position of the member states of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States. To confront any form of external interference that affects stability and peace in the region.
The Declaration reaffirmed “the validity of the principles of the Proclamation of Latin America and the Caribbean as a Zone of Peace in this context of growing tension.” It also denounced the tariff policies imposed as a form of trade war. Which “seriously affect the economy and well-being of our peoples.”
In this regard, it described these actions as violations of international law. Considering that they “restrict and undermine fair and equitable trade.”
The Foreign Ministers of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-People’s Trade Agreement (ALBA-TCP) demanded that the United States government “immediately and unconditionally cease” all illegal unilateral coercive measures against the peoples of Cuba, Nicaragua, and Venezuela.
They agreed that these measures “seek to impede their development and stability. Constituting a serious violation of international law and the right of peoples to development.”
In this regard, they demanded the lifting of the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed against Cuba and its immediate exclusion from the unilateral and arbitrary list of alleged state sponsors of terrorism. Moreover in which intensifies the economic siege against its people and lacks any legal or moral basis.
They also denounced the genocide perpetrated by Israel, the occupying power, in the Gaza Strip. Demanded “the immediate cessation of the occupation,” in addition to reaffirming “unconditional support for the Palestinian people. And their right to a sovereign state with East Jerusalem as its capital.”
ALBA-TCP joined the call for a Great Conference for Peace in Latin America and the Caribbean. As an indispensable forum for collectively responding to threats. Consolidating the unwavering commitment to peace, independence, and unity in Our America.
