The Holguin General José Miró Argenter Graphic Base Business Unit (Polygraphic) is expanding its production capabilities by using recyclable waste in the industry.
Carlos González Mulet, director of the organization, told the Cuban News Agency that the circular economy currently being implemented represents considerable potential. As previously 80 percent of these items were wasted.
Futhermore he confirmed that recycling extends to most of the industrial processes carried out at the Polygraphic Plant. It allows for the manufacture of items with use value that contribute to improved wages for the company’s workers.
He added that these goods are sold at retail in the company’s own store. With cash or electronic payment and at affordable prices. Moreover he emphasized that the unit maintains higher production levels than in previous years. Although this alternative does not represent a constant source of income. Its sale constitutes an economic contribution to the organization.
Among the materials generated are drawing books for children, school notebooks, models used by companies, ropes, labels, and other items. The offering extends to participation in fairs and donations to institutions such as schools and the Octavio de la Concepción y de la Pedraja Pediatric Hospital.
The Holguin Polygraphic Center, recognized for its varied services and productions, is a key industry in the economic sector of eastern Cuba. Also the investment system in its technology develops new commercial links and chains.
