Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel concluded a visit today during which he participated in the military parade in Beijing. Held talks with his Chinese counterpart, and commemorated the 65th anniversary of bilateral ties.
The president arrived in the Chinese capital on the evening of September 2nd and became the only president from Latin America and the Caribbean to attend the commemorative activities. For the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the defeat of fascism.
During that same day, he visited the history museum of the Communist Party of China and the joint venture Biotech Pharmaceuticals Limited (BPL). A leader in bilateral scientific cooperation, where he praised the facility’s innovative capacity.
Díaz-Canel emphasized that the company has gained maturity and stability and is facing current challenges.
Once at the Cuban Embassy in the capital, the Cuban leader held a videoconference with Cuban doctors and health specialists working in various Chinese provinces. Some of which are difficult to access and face challenging climatic and geographical conditions.
The president later spoke with members of the State Mission about the country’s socioeconomic situation and cooperation projects between China and Cuba.
On the 4th, Díaz-Canel held official talks with his host counterpart, Xi Jinping, and both emphasized the special nature and “iron-clad friendship” between the two countries. Both leaders signed a joint declaration to accelerate the construction of a community of shared destiny between China and Cuba.
Eleven cooperation documents were also announced in areas such as the Belt and Road Initiative, global security, local agriculture, artificial intelligence, and other sectors.
The agenda here also included visits to historical sites and technology Parks. As well as talks with top officials from the government and the Communist Party of Guangdong Province.
Díaz-Canel concluded his second stop on a tour of Asia that previously took him to Vietnam and will conclude in Laos.
