Holguin Radio Broadcasters Celebrate CMKO’s 89th Anniversary

CMKO’s 89th anniversary was celebrated in the station’s main studio, in the presence of the station’s directors, announcers, scriptwriters, sound technicians, and journalists, among other technicians and professionals who make up the great radio family.

With a gala honoring Manuel Angulo Farrán, who founded the station on August 1st, 1936. A tribute was also paid to the producers who have made each broadcast possible over these 89 years.

The moving event featured the artistic talent of the vocal group Golden Voices, evoking all the genres that have graced CMKO’s microphones, from radio theater to poetry.

The station was recognized by Arelis Marrero Guerrero, a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) and of the Provincial Bureau of that political body, for its commitment to the people over nearly nine decades on the air.
During the meeting, Natalia Díaz Riverón, Provincial Director of Radio Angulo, also presented the promotional campaign for Radio Angulo’s upcoming 90th anniversary. Among its main objectives, the campaign seeks to increase listener engagement through participation contests and other opportunities to bring radio closer to the communities.

This headquarters of the Holguin Radio System is made up of eight municipal radio stations and six radio studios, which work daily to reach every loyal listener who expects accurate information on 97.7 FM.

Radio Angulo hosts programs such as the news magazine Contigo, the social facilitator Apartado Popular, the participation program La Fórmula, the information giant De Primera Mano, and youth programs such as Qué tal joven and Parada Nocturna, which remain among the most listened to by the audience.

National recognition for CMKO producers and programs, and most importantly, the loyal following of Holguin listeners, is celebrated on this day by all Holguin radio broadcasters.
