Silvio Rodríguez’s Concert in Havana to Kick Off Latin American Tour

On Friday, September 19th, the steps of the University of Havana will mark the start of a new Latin American tour by singer-songwriter and founder of the Nueva Trova Movement, Silvio Rodríguez. According to the artist himself, who announced it on his official Facebook page, Zurrón del Aprendiz.

The concert, scheduled for 5:00 p.m. At the iconic venue in the capital, Silvio will include classic tracks and songs from his latest album—his 22nd—”Quería Saber.” Recorded at Ojalá Studios and released on digital platforms in June 2024.

Subsequent performances in Latin American countries will include Chile (September 29th, October 1st, 5th, and 6th), Argentina (October 11th, 12th, and 21th), Uruguay (October 17th and 18th), Peru (October 25th), and Colombia (October 31st and November 2nd), generating great expectations among several generations of audiences. Following numerous memorable concerts in the city’s most important plazas and theaters over the past five decades.

According to reports, Silvio will be accompanied by musicians who have repeated experience in front of crowds and engagements: Jorge Aragón on piano; Oliver Valdés on drums, congas, and percussion; Emilio Vega on keyboards; Jorge Reyes on double bass; Maykel Elizarde on tres; Rachid López on second guitar; and Niurka González on flute, clarinet, and backing vocals.

This new tour by the influential creator, poet, and chronicler of the Cuban Revolution and the peoples of the continent will not only be an opportunity to hear melodies rooted in the popular imagination, but also to reconnect with one of the most lucid and critical voices in Ibero-American music.
