With a broad program of activities featuring presentations on various topics of social interest. The Third Symposium on Social Sciences and the Arts, Concienciarte 2025, began this Friday. At the Center for Cultural Development in Holguin.
The opening of Concienciarte 2025 took place in the Chan Chan Patio with a presentation by soloist Rafael Hernández Sánchez. A member of the vocal group Feeling Voices.
The event’s inaugural lecture, entitled “Identity and Nation in Cuba: Requiem for the Past and Caution in the Present.” Was given by Dr. Alexander Abreu, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Holguin. Who discussed identity constructed from a rationality that goes beyond cultural factors.
The session continued with presentations of the papers registered for the event. Where participants shared their research and reflections, enriching this space for dialogue and learning.
On the first day of the event, the exhibition “My Other Profile” by artist Onelio Escalona was also inaugurated in the exhibition hall of the Provincial Center for Cultural Development. A space that welcomed event participants and friends of the artist, who enjoyed a display of art and humor.
Bringing together figures from Holguin’s culture, such as Professor Francisca López Silveira, the first day of ConcienciArte 2025 culminated with the “Entre Adoquines” (Between Cobblestones) festival. Dedicated on this occasion to the 40th anniversary of the Provincial Center for Cultural Development. A space that reaffirms its commitment to promoting art and culture in Holguin. Offering a meeting place for music, literature, and dialogue.
