More than 1,800 professionals will join various sectors of society after the University of Holguin (UHo) graduation ceremony for the 2024-2025 academic year.
Moreover the ceremony, held at the José de la Luz y Caballero campus, was attended by officials from the Communist Party of Cuba. The provincial government, the Union of Young Communists, and the University Student Federation. Who accompanied the graduates at this moments for the Holguin academic community.
In an atmosphere of jubilation and celebration, 85 students were recognized with the Scientific Merit Award. Who excelled in research throughout their academic training, both in curricular and extracurricular activities.
Likewise, the top graduates in the categories of student assistant, teaching, sports, culture, and defense were honored. Liván Fernando Espinosa Hechavarría, a journalism graduate, was honored. As the class’s Outstanding Student for his academic excellence and outstanding participation throughout his four years of study.

Futhermore on behalf of his classmates, Espinosa expressed his gratitude for the support of professors, authorities, and family members. Emphasizing the University’s crucial role in his professional and personal growth. At the same time, he urged his classmates to face new professional challenges. With the same commitment that characterized them as students.

For her part, the rector of the UHO, Dr. Aniuska Ortiz Pérez, highlighted in her speech the pride this graduating class represents for the institution. Also whose members have demonstrated not only technical and professional mastery but also a deep commitment to social values.
“Our country demands professionals who not only master their discipline, but who act with ethics, a critical eye, humanism. And the caring heart that characterizes us. Be builders of bridges, not walls, in the face of injustice.
Be advocates of human dignity in the face of misinformation. Be communicators of the truth in the face of environmental challenges. Be professionals who not only do their jobs well, but also do good with their work,” Ortiz concluded.
In conclusion with the 57th Anniversary Graduation, the University of Holguin reaffirms its position as an academic benchmark in eastern Cuba. Training qualified professionals committed to the country’s development.
