White Beach, a summer option in Holguin

White Beach, located in the Holguin municipality of Rafael Freyre, is one of the favorite spots for visitors and the perfect setting to enjoy “an eternally young summer.”

It is located on the northeastern coast of Cuba, at the entrance to Bariay Bay. Where the three ships manned by the first Spaniards to set foot on the island arrived in 1492.

It is just a few kilometers from the town of Santa LucĂa, the municipal capital. For years the people lived around the sugar mill and based their economy on sugar production.

Only nature and glimpses of old buildings remain as witnesses of those times, as today “Rafael Freyre” is sustained thanks to tourism, agricultural development. The protection of an important cultural heritage, ranging from the railroad tracks to the two towers that lead travelers to the point where history meets the present.

An example of this local development is the camping base and other recreational spaces located along Playa Blanca (White Beach). Where children and young people find their ideal place. Thus, anyone who visits becomes a young soul, faced with the numerous sites. Dedicated to the enjoyment of local and foreign tourists.

Yandra Marrero Cruz, director of the Camping Company in Holguin, explained to the Cuban News Agency. That numerous options have been set up to facilitate the arrival of vacationers to the coast during the summer. With transportation and varied offers, accessible to the general public and in high demand. As over time, Playa Blanca Campground has positioned itself as one of the most popular in eastern Cuba.
