Icap develops international solidarity meeting in Holguin

The Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP by its initials in spanish) in the city of Holguin held a solidarity meeting at the “María Antonina Bolmey” Semi-Boarding School. As part of the activities for International Workers’ Day, to be celebrated this May Day.

The event that brought together Joel Queipo Ruiz, member of the Central Committee and first secretary of the provincial Communist Party of Cuba. Members of the Calixto García Solidarity Brigade, pioneers, workers in the educational sector of the Lenin District People’s Council and young Namibians from the University of Holguin.

Became a space to reaffirm Cuba’s commitment to workers’ unity and the construction of a better future, despite the adversities.

The day began with a parade led by the pioneers. Who, with colorful banners and flags, began a day full of enthusiasm. This was followed by a political-cultural event where the voices of the participants were intertwined in a common message of resistance and hope.

The pioneer Raúl Alejandro Chacón Patterson expressed his pride in belonging to a generation that grows up under the values of solidarity and social justice.

“Cuban children know that our homeland is not alone, and today, together with friends from other lands, we demonstrate it once again,” Chacón said.
During the meeting, the attendees demanded the lifting of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States government against Cuba. A policy that has been repeatedly condemned by the international community.

Lupe Isabel Fernández Ramírez, delegate of ICAP. Ratified Cuba’s unwavering support for just causes and the importance of maintaining solidarity with the international trade union movement.

The day concluded with the presentation of institutional projects developed by the students, who showed their creativity and commitment to local development.

The “Guajirito Soy” fair was also held, a space dedicated to promoting cultural traditions and native products of the region.
