Holguin Promotes Female Talent on International Girls in ICT

The Holguin Technology Center hosted a special event on April 24th to celebrate International Girls in Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Day.

The event, organized with the support of the Ministry of Communications and the Cuban Union of Computer Scientists. Sought to motivate young women to enter this strategic sector. The agenda included educational and motivational activities. The panel “Women in ICT” featured Eylin Abreu, Director of Television, who shared her professional experience.

A talk was also held on the growing role of women in the technology field, emphasizing how more and more women are contributing valuable perspectives in this field.

As part of the interactive activity, participants enjoyed educational games. Such as word searches and sentence completion exercises, designed to encourage playful learning. The artistic component was led by soloist Yeimis Sálazar Sánchez from the Manuel Dositeo Aguilera Cultural Center, who enlivened the event with her musical performance.

During the event, the organizers highlighted the importance of ICTs as tools that facilitate access to knowledge, promote innovation, and contribute to gender equity.

Special emphasis was placed on how female participation in this sector contributes to diversity of thought and creative solutions to technological challenges.

The closing ceremony included recognition of teachers and specialists, led by José Manuel Mora Champán. As part of the ongoing commitment to fostering technological careers among young women in Holguin. This initiative is aligned with the national development goals and the 2030 Agenda for Equal Opportunities.
