II Provincial Conference on Immunology will be held in Holguin

The II Provincial Conference on Immunology, (INMUNOHOLGUIN 2025) will be held in Holguin on April 25. With the purpose of socializing the results of science, technology and innovation in this field. And promoting collaboration between academic and scientific research institutions.

This event, in commemoration of the International Day of Immunology. Which is celebrated every April 29, was convened by the Holguin Chapter of the Cuban Society of Immunology. The University of Medical Sciences and the Provincial Council of Scientific Health Societies.

At INMUNOHOLGUIN 2025, research related to Psychoneuroimmunology and immunopathology will be presented. And also related to the impact of infectious diseases and nutrition on the immune system, among other topics.

Immunology is currently an essential specialty to maintain public health. In the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases and the development of innovative therapies.

Cuba today shows relevant results within Immunology and even, in some topics. Reaches a level similar to that of the countries with the greatest advancement in the specialty. Among the achievements in this field are the vaccines achieved against viral infections such as hepatitis B and Sars-Cov-2. Or to face bacterial infections such as meningococcal meningitis type B, or haephofilus influenzae type B.

The country currently has more than 10 biotechnological products in use against immunological. Infectious and chronic non-communicable diseases, while for cancer immunotherapy there are seven registered products and more than 25 under investigation. Including vaccines and monoclonal antibodies.

Continued research in immunology is critical to addressing emerging challenges.Such as autoimmune diseases, antibiotic resistance, and the development of new immune therapies. It opens a door to advanced medical treatments and therapies that improve quality of life and survival.
