The team from the province of Holguin preserved its undefeated record this Sunday by completing a sweep in the visit to Santiago de Cuba. In the National Youth Baseball Championship.
The Holguin team beat the indomitable 6×5 on Sunday, with a victory for reliever Eliesner Tamayo. An offensive highlight for Jesús Guerrero who hit a double and triple in three at-bats. With three RBIs and Fabio Hernández, who pinch-hit in the seventh inning and gave the hit to drive in the decisive run.
In Saturday’s doubleheader, Lugdis Piñera’s disciples achieved successes of 6×5 and 6×2, with credits of the victories for Alain Torres (3-0) and Luis Daniel Rodríguez, respectively. In the first game, catcher Adriano López hit a home run for the winners.
Now Holguin dominates the standings in Group D East, with 6-0. And is linked to its sixth victory in the National Youth Baseball Championship. The Santiago team went to last place with four wins and eight losses.
At the Eide Pedro Díaz Coello, the U-15 team received a broom from Santiago with scores of 5-3, 11-2 and 15-8. The defeated pitchers were Ernesto García, Lionel Cortiña and Yandel Santiesteban, in that order.
