Provincial Center of Plastic Arts in Holguin Ready for Book Fair

A few hours before the start of the XXXIII edition of the International Book Fair in Holguin (FILHo2025), the Provincial Center of Plastic Arts is ready for the largest literary event.

Nestled in one of the most central corners of the Cuban city of parks, this center will develop an extensive program of activities.

This Thursday, the beginning of the book festival, the Conference “Art and Contemporary Art in South Africa” will be held by Clara Hilda Moreno Ramírez, as this country is the guest of honor in this edition.

On the other hand, the presentation of the books is scheduled for Saturday, March 22: Art outside the Museum, Texts of/about Adelaida de Juan, published by Ediciones Holguin. And A quien puede interesa. Antología de la Crítica de la Revista de Arte Cubano (1995-2015).

In addition, the titles, La Acera del Sol. Impacts of Socialist Cultural Policy on Cuban Art (1961-1981) by Ediciones Letras Cubanas, a book that won the Alejo Carpentier Prize in 2019.

Also, the presentation of several titles of the Editorial “Conciencia Ediciones” of the University of Holguin. In this case, a wide variety will be presented, from books dedicated to the visual arts of Holguin to others that link this manifestation with literature, cuisine and also architecture.

According to Yuricel Moreno Zaldívar, director of the Provincial Center of Plastic Arts of Holguin, in parallel to the conferences and presentations of texts, the exhibition “Thresholds of Paper” will be exhibited in the Sala Electa Arenal, an allegorical exhibition of the publishing houses of the territory.

Likewise, “La hora tercia” will be held, a proposal that will be inserted within the reading festival by youth, scientific and artistic institutions. A fairly simple program but that makes available to readers interesting proposals from the publishing universe related to the visual arts and the events of this event in the guest country of honor that is South Africa, Moreno Zaldívar said.

The XXXIII edition of the International Book Fair will run from March 20 to 23, with an extensive program of activities, artistic, literary and theoretical meetings in addition to the usual book sale.
