A record figure of 827 million dollars was reached in 2024, with its sales in more than 130 countries, by the Habanos S.A. corporation, which represents a 16 percent (%) growth compared to the previous year.
At a press conference at the Havana Convention Center before the media accredited at the XXV Habanos Festival, José Pérez Martell, commercial vice president of that joint venture, said today that without a doubt these are significant revenues for Cuba.
He stressed that what has been achieved is the result of the management of 4,705 points of sale scattered around the world, including its franchise stores.
Alejandro Fernández-Blanco, deputy director of Operational Marketing, mentioned China and the Asia-Pacific region as the main market in values, followed in order by Spain, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and Germany.
Cuba is among the top 10 markets, thanks to the fact that many tourists prefer to make their purchases in the country of origin of the premium cigars (always handmade) that Habanos S.A. sells, in addition to the meritorious management of their homes or points of sale and also to the realization of these festivals every year.
An expression of the prestige and interest that the traditional event has achieved is that now, in its XXV edition, scheduled for February 24 to 28, a record number of three thousand 300 participants from 110 countries is quantified.
More than 160 journalists from 21 nations cover this festival of lovers of the most luxurious and highest quality cigars in the world, which includes a trade fair with 90 national and foreign exhibitors.
The corporation’s executives recalled that its portfolio covers 27 brands, and the protagonists of this edition will be Romeo y Julieta, on its 150th anniversary; H. Upmann Gran Reserva Cosecha 2019 and the Behike line, on its 15th birthday and the most exclusive of Cohiba, the main brand of Habanos S. A.
The representatives of the media also learned details of the launches of new products to the international market scheduled for 2025, and of the personalities nominated for the festival’s Habanos Awards this year, in the categories of Habanos Awards of the festival this year, in the categories of communication, business and production. Habanos S.A. is a Cuban joint venture, owned in equal parts by the local Cubatabaco and the Spanish Altadis, an entity belonging to the English group Imperial Tobacco Group PLC, which markets all Cuban tobacco products in the world.
