The collection Abrirse las Constelaciones by Ediciones La Luz, publishing house of the Hermanos Saíz Association in Holguin, presented as one of its literary novelties at the 33rd Havana International Book Fair (FILH in the Spanish acronym) the title Bladimir Zamora: the pleasure of heresy by Holguin journalist Vanessa Pernía.
Joaquín Borges Triana, who was in charge of the book’s prologue, shared with the public some memories of the friendship he had with Zamora and highlighted his work promoting young Cuban poetry and the music of the Island. In addition to his extensive work as a cultural journalist.
The prologue of Bladimir Zamora: the pleasure of heresy highlights that the book “has the merit of showing that the journalistic works of Blado, “the greatest caimanero”, are nothing other than a faithful, accurate mirror of figures and facts that are part of our society, which tell us very wisely what we are like. They are texts that leave a mark on the conscience.
“And the author monographed by Pernía Arias has an authentic drive, a concise and dynamic saying, where the word shines and ingenuity prevails.”
This Wednesday’s FILH2025 event was also the perfect setting to share the mini-cover library “Caja de Luz”, as part of the personal project ArteLibros, by the promoter and producer Andrés Zaldívar, which also integrates the Ediciones La Luz catalogue, versioned in miniature format, made and decorated entirely with recycled materials.
In this context, the poet and visual artist Lorena V. F. spoke, as a presentation of “Caja de Luz”, with Andrés Zaldívar, and recognized that Ediciones La Luz has always maintained a close bond with the illustrators, photographers and designers who have joined its catalog. In this way, the publisher has sought to take visual art beyond the covers and exhibitions such as My name is Celestino, Says the moss that sprouts and Retoños de Almendro have emerged.
“Caja de Luz,” notes Lorena V. F., “brings together nearly 200 titles already published by the publishing house and has two main objectives: the first is to promote and make visible the covers of the books and the second, in line with this year’s campaign, to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Territorial Editions System.”
The Ediciones La Luz catalog presented at the Book Fair in its 33rd edition includes a wide range of titles that cover poetry, narrative, essays and literature for young people, organized in collections such as Abrirse las Constelaciones, Analekta, Mehrlicht, QuemaPalabras and Premio Celestino.
The publishing house of the Hermanos Saíz Association in Holguin was created in 1997 to promote young Cuban literature, it was integrated into the Territorial Editions System in 2003, and since then it has stood out as one of the most important labels in the country for the different themes, genres and formats it covers in its catalog.
