In Holguin is organized the 23rd Workshop The City We Want

In Holguin, where history and modernity intertwine, the 23rd edition of the Workshop The City We Want is being prepared, a space that brings together professionals from various disciplines to reflect, debate and propose solutions for urban and architectural development.

This year, the event, which will take place on April 3 and 4, will be dedicated to the Hato de San Isidoro de Holguin, a symbol of the historical and cultural roots of the region.

Organized by the Provincial Center for Cultural Heritage and the Union of Historians of Cuba, among other institutions, the workshop has as its central axis the values of the people of Holguin.

According to Hiram David Pérez Concepción, president of the Union of Historians in the territory, this meeting has a multidisciplinary character, since it addresses the study of culture from various specialties of human endeavor: “The objective is to promote innovation, mobilize initiatives that improve living conditions and deepen local identity in all its stages.”

The workshop will not only focus on the historical legacy, but will also explore topics such as the environment, the architectural design of public spaces and the relationship between architecture, urban planning and other artistic expressions, such as graphics, stage lighting, furniture and lamps.

These sub-themes seek to offer a comprehensive vision on how to build a city that combines functionality, aesthetics and respect for its heritage.

Throughout its 23 editions, the Taller “La Ciudad Que Quiero” has established itself as a key promoter of urban and architectural development in Holguin.

Through exhibitions, exchanges and debates, this event has managed to involve various sectors of Cuban society in the defense of historical heritage and in the search for alternatives that allow building a more livable, sustainable city in harmony with its cultural identity.

This year, Holguin is once again the stage where the past and the future meet to imagine together the city that everyone wants.
