More than 2 thousand graduates at the University of Holguín

More than two thousand students of the 42 fields from the University of Holguin graduated this October 9 as new professionals of sciences and liberal arts, what shows the important role of the academy in the formation of the future Cuban worker.

The headquarters of the José de la Luz y Caballero pedagogical education hosted the solemn ceremony corresponding to the 50th graduation of the house of higher studies since its foundation in 1968, moment in which teachers, relatives and students accompanied the young people invested, of which 86 obtained Suma Cum Laude Titles.

Aniuska Ortiz Pérez, rector of the institution, congratulated the graduates who will form a valuable part of the qualified force that the country needs, where with their youth and energy they will make use of the skills and values learned in the classroom and will contribute to the local, territorial and national socioeconomic welfare.

In order to replicate and surpass next year the current results, the center has as its objectives the consolidation of the teaching processes, the promotion of academic, scientific and human excellence in young university students and the establishment of strategic links with entities in order to incorporate theory and practice, he said.

Dianelis León Henry, graduate in History of Cuba and best overall graduate of the course, thanked the commitment and dedication of those who contributed to her training and that of her classmates during the years of transit through the academy, a period where they were nourished with knowledge and where effort and responsibility prevailed.

Graduating is not only the end of a stage that will remain among the best memories of youth in which lasting bonds of brotherhood and friendship were established, but also symbolizes a beginning in which they will have to materialize all their dreams and demonstrate why they are continuity of the Cuban system, he said.

Founded in 1968, the current University of Holguin is composed since 2015 by the campuses “Oscar Lucero Moya”, “Celia Sanchez Manduley”, the Faculty of Physical Culture and Sports Manuel Fajardo and the Pedagogical Institute “Jose de la Luz y Caballero”.

With this graduation, the alma mater of the northeastern territory totals around 80 thousand professionals graduated from the nine faculties and ten municipal university centers it has, thus ratifying the commitment of its faculty in the comprehensive preparation of young people for their incorporation as useful members of society.
